It's that time of year again. Valentine's Day. The once a year pilgrimage of men trying to make up for a year of not purposeful but romantic neglect none the less. Now this statement isn't 100 % accurate. We at Butterfields are truly blessed to have a customer base that includes quite a few genuine sweethearts. That disclaimer being stated; the tide of struggling and completely clueless can be overwhelming to this little shop keeper.
For a solid two weeks we hear "I want something pretty ???" "I don't know what to spend." " I want something nice but . . . " Some direction is in order and I try not to get frustrated. It is my job after all to lead the love blind so to speak.
Now up to this point, I have been very careful what I ask to determine the recipient's taste and the customer's desired outcome. I never want to offend anyone.
But my hearts desire someday, is to ask in the simplistic terms possible, what response do you want?
"Oh, he remembered. That's Sweet" (25 - 30 range)
"For me. They're so pretty. He really is a great guy." (35 - 55 range)
"Wow! He spoils me! " thinking we're going to be smooching tonight. (60 -90 range)
and finally
"Holy Shit!" Speechless & smiling & double checking appearance for the evening's activity (100 - on up)
Now wouldn't that be easier?
