October 17. So? Is that special for some reason? It's a Monday in the middle of October; in the middle of Fall. Not a three day weekend. Nope got nothing. Why is October 17 special?
It is Bosses Day this year. Super stoked aren't you? I can tell.
But honestly, you should be a little stoked.
Bosses' jobs for the most part can really be downright shitty at times. If a boss is a good one, they take heat from higher up and deal with the "clean up" from down below. And face it, deep down no one likes to do the "dirty work" . But that is the territory they live in. Motivator, Teacher, Counselor, Cop, Pretty much the butcher: the baker: the candlestick maker. Whatever is needed whenever it is needed. Just protect the company and make it prosper. Sounds simple. Simple maybe for a multi-armed multi-tasking demi-god. But a boss isn't a demi-god. They are people too. One leg at a time: pants wearing Joe. With the same life dealing stuff the rest of us have.
So when you come into work and your boss seems crabby, ask yourself what's going on behind the scenes. Are they doing the dance of a thousand fires exploding in the office?
Bosses are people too. Sometimes, just sometimes a little gesture reminds them that they are part of the team too.
